This Art Deco sewing box from Indonesia, dating to the 1930s, is crafted from Indian rosewood. The piece is notable for its intricate, hand-carved detailing, which reflects the rich artisanal heritage of the region during the early 20th century. Constructed entirely of wood, the box features a tiered, cantilevered design that opens to reveal multiple storage compartments. The exterior is adorned with elaborate carvings depicting architectural and landscape motifs, characteristic of Indonesian craftsmanship. The rich brown tones of the rosewood highlight the depth and texture of the carvings. The box is equipped with a sturdy central handle and wooden knobs for easy access to the compartments. The sewing box is in good condition, retaining its structural integrity and original character.
