Very rare Art Deco desk produced by S.A. Casa Moderna in Genoa, Italy, circa 1936. The piece is part of the so-called “Studio 900” office ensemble, as confirmed by the original invoice from 1936. The design is characterized by a powerful, architectural form with solid side panels and a thick, rounded top. The desk is crafted in beautiful burr walnut veneer featuring a lively pattern and warm color nuances. The subtly rounded edges and the carefully continuous veneer give the furniture a serene yet luxurious appearance. On the front are two drawers with original keys and tassels. The piece rests on broad panel legs that give it a solid and monumental presence. Due to the lack of other known examples, this desk was likely produced in a limited run or possibly custom-made. The piece still bears the original metal label of Casa Moderna, a furniture manufacturer from Genoa that supplied, among others, the high-end segment of the market. A special and rarely seen Italian desk from the interwar period, with a beautiful patina that enhances the character of the piece. In good condition with light signs of use.
