Coffee / side table by Waring & Gillow from the early 1930s, designed in the Art Deco style.
The solid wood construction makes the piece surprisingly heavy for its compact size. It is finished in walnut veneer with a beautiful, distinctive grain, while the top is covered in burr walnut with a satin finish.
The form is based on a geometric, modernist structure with characteristic rounded edges. The warmth of the wood contrasts with glossy black-and-white lines that emphasize the architectural character of the piece and give it a surprisingly modern expression. The two-level construction — four shelves arranged alternately at two heights — provides practical and well-thought-out functionality.
This table is not only practical but also a striking element for interiors in vintage, Art Deco, modernist, or eclectic styles.
