This beautiful earthenware deep dish takes us directly back to the decorative world of the interwar period, when tableware gradually abandoned the naturalistic floral compositions of the early century to adopt much more graphic motifs. Against a slightly warm ivory background, a large stenciled floral composition stands out. Deep blue structures the design with its foliage, curved stems, and two large circular lines, while the main flower and buds are rendered in nuanced reddish-brown tones. The contrast is striking, particularly decorative, with this characteristic stylization of 1920s and 1930s productions. The composition is intentionally off-center. The large flower occupies one side of the dish, while the long blue lines complement its circular shape and leave a large part of the background uncluttered. This pursuit of asymmetry and geometrization gives the piece its full Art Deco appeal. Approximately 26 cm in diameter, this is not a plate but a deep serving dish. Its beautiful depth allowed for serving vegetables, sauced preparations, or side dishes at the center of the table. It can naturally resume this use today, while also forming a particularly interesting decorative piece due to the strength and simplicity of its motif. The earthenware shows the discreet signs of age inherent to a piece that has endured nearly a century, including a fine patina and some signs of use, without detracting from the legibility of the design or its overall charm.
