This elegant antique biscuit box bears witness to the refinement of Art Deco tableware, when everyday objects were designed to fully participate in home decor. It uniquely combines a rectangular pressed glass container, a varnished wooden structure, a spectacular twisted gilded metal handle, and a lid adorned with a mirror painted with red roses and foliage. The thick, luminous glass features a delicate embossed design that plays with light. It contrasts with the warm tones of the wood and the patinated gleam of the metal, while the floral mirror adds a delicately romantic touch to the whole. Its highly architectural construction, the geometry of its base, and the mix of materials are characteristic of the Art Deco taste of the 1930s-1940s.
