Arspect
The company eventually went bankrupt in 1974, but made a new start that same year with a few former employees under the name Arspect. They wanted to continue to carry a small number of the 'old' Spectrum furniture and supplemented the collection with new furniture. In addition, Arspect imported several Italian and Scandinavian collections.
Over the years, Arspect focused more and more on project furniture, so that the trade in furniture for private individuals and contact with retailers was neglected. When several major clients disappeared in the course of the 1980s, Arspect was unable to absorb that loss and had to close its doors.
Spectrum has had a turbulent history. Nevertheless, a few guidelines have always been clearly recognizable under all circumstances: functionalist design, furniture without ornament, the beauty of which was determined by a well-considered and balanced shape and proportion. In addition, use of high-quality materials and the will to make good design known to a wide audience. - (Spectrum has never really been a furniture factory. From the start, the company outsourced an important part of the production to other specialized companies and only kept a few activities in-house. This meant that it was not necessary to invest in expensive machines or housing. a piece of furniture could easily be removed from the collection if it turned out to be insufficiently sold, allowing Spectrum to easily adapt to changes in the market.
