The FM62 is one of the most recognizable designs by Dutch designer Radboud van Beekum. Defined by its rigorous geometric structure, the chair reduces seating to its essential elements: a cubic steel frame combined with suspended saddle leather surfaces that provide both support and comfort.
The visual tension between the strict architectural frame and the soft, naturally curved leather seat creates a striking balance. Viewed from any angle, the FM62 reveals Van Beekum’s fascination with constructivist design principles, where form, structure, and function become inseparable.
Its minimalist appearance places the chair firmly within the Dutch design tradition of the late twentieth century. More than four decades after its introduction, the FM62 remains remarkably contemporary and is considered an important example of Dutch modernist furniture design.
