Model 400 is a lounge armchair from the late 1950s and early 1960s, designed by Bengt Ruda (1918–1999).
This armchair with metal legs was produced by Artifort in the Netherlands. A version with wooden legs was produced by the Danish company ESA.
The flowing, fully upholstered shell and the slender metal base are strongly reminiscent of the Italian armchair by Marco Zanuso. Like Zanuso, this armchair prioritizes comfort, expressed through rounded volumes and a sculptural design language. The result is a chair that sits at the intersection of Scandinavian tranquility, Dutch craftsmanship, and Italian elegance. It is not only comfortable but, with its beautiful rounded design, also a feast for the eyes.
The armchair has a new interior and is upholstered in a beautiful grayish-green bouclé. Minor signs of wear are visible at the ends of the legs. Dimensions: 75b x 77d x 82h x 38zh cm.
