3-drawer "Ariel" desk by Jean Domps, Trefac - Meurop edition circa 1960. Black lacquered metal structure, varnished teak veneered chipboard top and pedestal, wooden drawers. Rare version with black-lacquered metal drawer handles. It is likely that this edition was created specifically to match the first series of furniture designed by Pierre Guariche and published in December 1960, also featuring black lacquered metal handles. This is the only example with this type of handle that we have come across to date. A rare piece.
In very good vintage condition, the top has been reprocessed, with a few traces of use and age, stains, small dents, scratches and minor wear. A deep double scratch still visible on the top, a +-12mm plating skip on the edge of the cabinet... Very good overall appearance. The original lock works, but the key is missing.
Dimensions: Width: 150cm, depth: 77cm, height: 75cm, usable width between pedestal and base: 72cm, usable height under shelf: 71cm.
