Product description
This painting by Aone Postma is theosophical in nature. Man is related to the three forms of existence, the mineral, plant and animal worlds. Like the minerals, man builds his body from the substances of nature; like the plants, man grows and reproduces; like the animals, man perceives the things around him and comes to inner experiences based on his impressions of them. Therefore, we can attribute to man a mineral, a vegetable and an animal existence. This principle underlies the painting "The Girl's Love for the Pebble. An incarnated human being in being went through the stages of mineral, vegetable and animal existence. The girl, as a human being in this painting, shows her kinship and her love for the stone, the mineral. The painting was created in 1996, Aone T. POSTMA (born 1963) is a visual artist living in The Hague, Friesian by birth. Postma studied Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in the late 1980s. After a one-and-a-half-year stay in India for various fine art internships, he settled back in The Hague and opened his studio in Boekhorststraat. In the 1990s and the first decade of the twenty-first century, Postma had regular successful exhibitions of paintings in various Dutch galleries. In recent years he has not exhibited. Postma also teaches Visual Arts and Art History in secondary schools. His work is difficult to qualify; it is mostly magical realistic in atmosphere with many allegorical references. His work expresses melancholy and poetry. Postma paints in a figurative style, yet his work, particularly through his use of color, is also highly expressive (Pyke Koch, Otto Dix, Oskar Kokoschka, El Greco).
