Designed by the renowned Filipino designer Antonio “Budji” Layug, this elegant pair of Mid-Century leather lounge chairs perfectly embodies his signature balance of sculptural simplicity, exceptional craftsmanship and timeless sophistication. Layug is internationally celebrated for combining luxurious natural materials with organically inspired forms, resulting in furniture that is both inviting and architecturally refined.
The chairs feature beautifully shaped, embracing shells upholstered in their original light olive-green leather, displaying subtle yellow-green undertones that have matured gracefully over time. The exterior retains the natural suede reverse of the leather, creating a striking contrast in texture while emphasizing the authenticity of the materials.
A particularly distinctive detail is the elegant hand-laced cross-stitching that follows the curved seams, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship for which Layug’s furniture is admired. Condition
Very good vintage condition. The original leather displays a beautiful natural patina with age-related wear consistent with decades of careful use, including light surface scratches, minor scuffs and a small area of wear on one armrest, all visible in the photographs. The suede backs show subtle signs of age, while the dark metal frames remain structurally sound and present beautifully.
