Antique Vanuatu hardwood mace, dating from the early 1900s. It was made in Vanuatu, formerly the New Hebrides, a Franco-British condominium. This mace is carved from a single piece of red-colored hardwood with a dark/black patina typical of items from Oceania. A sennit braided band is wrapped around the grip and is in good condition. The head has a conical point with four striking points below. There is some wear around the head, likely due to use and age. It can be found in the William Oldman catalog, page 73, number 18.
