A beautiful antique covered soup tureen from the popular "Passe Temps" series by the French manufacturer U&C Sarreguemines.
The humorous decoration features numerous detailed scenes with harlequins and Pierrot figures, rabbits, birds, swans, flowers, and other playful motifs. Small illustrations can be discovered around the bowl. The original lid has the typical recess for a soup spoon.
The base mark "Passe Temps – U&C Sarreguemines" dates the piece to the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1880–1910).
An exceptional collector's item of French faience and a wonderful addition to any Sarreguemines or transferware collection.
