Product description
This exquisite cabinet piece from the Historicism/Art Nouveau period (circa 1900) is an authentic testament to Alpine craftsmanship. It is a folding pocket watch holder, specially crafted for travelers or as a luxurious bedside accessory. The case is hand-carved from solid wood and features a detailed relief of a pear tree against a characteristic bark-like texture.
Special Features:
Provenance: The inscription "KLAGENFURT" on the wooden hinge identifies the piece as a high-quality local handcrafted item from Carinthia, Austria.
Interior: The compartment is lined with the original, deep purple silk velvet, which protects the watch and presents it elegantly.
Collector's Value: A rare "Black Forest Style" object with a specific regional connection.
Condition:
The object is in honest, unrestored original condition with a beautiful patina. Minor stains and scratches consistent with its age are present. An authentic, vertical crack on the side of the wood testifies to the age of the natural material (see close-up photos). The hinge functions perfectly.
