Beautiful antique tramp art box with mirror panels on the sides and top, pointed legs and a triangular lid, inside partially lined with green velvet and decorated with a small mirror, rare collector's item from the early 20th century. Useful box to use as a trinket or trinket box, jewelry box or simply as a decorative object. This box bears a fine patina of age, the mirror glass is decoratively weathered by age. Beautiful form of folk art, anyone could make a tramp art object with whatever they had on hand, hence very rare to find 2 identical pieces, these unique items therefore have a high collector's value and are highly sought after. Tramp art is a style of woodworking that emerged in America in the second half of the 19th century. Some of the defining characteristics of tramp art include chip or notch carving, reclaiming cheap or available wood such as that from cigar boxes and shipping crates, using simple tools such as pocket knives, and layering materials into geometric shapes using glue or nails. This item is in very good condition, no damage at all to the carvings, usually they are always damaged somewhere, this one has stood the test of time very well, at one time the underside of the inside was probably also covered with velvet, the key is unfortunately missing, check the photos for more details! Dimensions: LBH 28x15x15cm. Weight: 0.767kg.
