Antique Clairfontaine earthenware 'talking plate', dating from the 19th century. This piece belongs to “The Merry Refrains” series, a collection of illustrated plates popular at the time, blending humorous scenes and songs. The scene depicted is titled “Faro and Ambick” with the mention “The Wandering Jew”, accompanied by a short text printed on the back. These plates were often used in inns and cabarets, where diners would read and comment on the scenes during meals. Period: 19th century, approximately 20 cm. Antique plate showing a significant chip on the rim, visible in the photos, as well as signs of age and a usage patina. It nevertheless remains very decorative and interesting for collection or wall decoration.
