Highly decorative antique glazed earthenware planter, crafted in the spirit of the great barbotine productions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The body reproduces with great relief the weaving of a wicker basket, in warm shades of honey yellow and ochre. The rim and interior are entirely glazed in a remarkable turquoise blue, while two ribbon-shaped side handles complete this particularly elaborate composition. The piece truly comes into its own with its spectacular applied floral decoration. A large pink flower modeled in relief, buds, green foliage, and stems wind around the body. Each element is shaped separately then integrated into the decoration, giving the whole this naturalistic exuberance characteristic of Art Nouveau creations. The contrast between the turquoise, amber yellow, greens, and pink gives this piece a remarkable presence. The natural network of crackle in the glaze also contributes to the character of an earthenware piece that has passed through more than a century. Height: approximately 11 cm. Diameter at opening: approximately 10 cm. The piece shows several traces of its age: visible hairline cracks at the rim and base, as well as chips and losses on the delicate relief floral decoration. These elements are clearly visible in the photographs and have been taken into consideration in its price.
