Product description
Antique Silver Plated Mechanical Wine Decanter / Pourer – Circa Late 1890s A stunning and rare antique silver-plated mechanical wine or port decanter, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1890s). This exceptional piece was designed not only as a functional wine-pouring device but also as a true table presentation showpiece, intended to impress guests while gently pouring wine and reducing sediment. Featuring a graceful carrying handle, this decanter would traditionally be brought to the table and operated with a flourish. The bottle is placed into the cradle and raised or lowered smoothly by turning the rear crank, allowing for precise and elegant pouring. Crafted in silver plate, the base is beautifully decorated with guilloché engraving and supported by four round feet, giving it a refined and architectural presence. Likely of French manufacture, the only visible markings are the number “40” and a flag over a square base. Condition Excellent working condition All original parts present Mechanism works perfectly and smoothly No dents or structural damage Light age-related wear and a natural aged patina, adding charm and authenticity Minor silver loss in very small areas, barely noticeable and consistent with age Considering its age (approximately 150 years old), this piece is in remarkable condition.
