A very beautiful Sarreguemines earthenware serving dish, probably made around the 1930s-1940s, whose decoration possesses that particular presence characteristic of French interwar faience. Against the ivory background unfolds a large rose in red-orange and yellow tones, surrounded by foliage treated in subtle shades of grey and green. The design is expansive, almost theatrical, yet the piece retains a beautiful sobriety thanks to the simple red line that follows the contour of the dish. It is precisely this contrast that gives it its character: a classic form, intended for table service, enlivened by a much freer and more modern floral decor. It also tells the story of an era when French manufacturers knew how to imbue everyday objects with a true decorative identity. The reverse bears the "Marechal Miel - Sarreguemines" mark, testament to its French production. Measuring 31 cm in length by approximately 22 cm in width, the dish has beautiful proportions: substantial enough to serve as a centerpiece, without being cumbersome.
