Product description
Charming antique portrait of a young woman in profile, oil on canvas, French school circa 1860-1890, signed A. Piard lower left. The composition is inspired by late 19th-century historicist models, with a dark background contrasting the light face, the updo adorned with pearls, and a green cabochon pendant highlighting the sitter's delicate appearance.
Portrait format, canvas 40.5 x 32.5 cm, frame 52 x 44 cm, 5.5 cm thick. In good condition for its age, however, the canvas shows a network of natural craquelure. A mark is visible in the upper part of the head. Recently varnished, glossy finish. The original wood and gilt stucco frame has been repaired, repainted, and reinforced—a clean, handcrafted job. Approximately 1.6 kg.
