This is the story told by this pair of green-tinted round-lensed pince-nez glasses, preserved in its original optician's case. The silver-plated metal frame, of remarkable delicacy, features a flexible bridge allowing it to be worn as pince-nez, a system very common during the Belle Époque. The small side lugs allowed for the addition of folding temples, according to the wearer's preferences. The original case, made of embossed black cardboard with a black velvet interior, bears the inscription in gold letters: Maison Balthasar Morgenstern Fils 115 rue Émile-Zola Troyes. A precious testament to provincial commercial life at the beginning of the 20th century, which anchors this object in a local and authentic history.
