Product description
This antique oil painting on linen is a high-quality study of the world-famous masterpiece "The Man with the Golden Helmet," historically attributed to Rembrandt van Rijn. Dating from the period circa 1890 to 1950, the work strikingly captures the characteristic chiaroscuro effect and the mysterious gaze of the character.
The depiction is executed with thick application of paint on the helmet, imitating the impasto style of the Old Masters and giving the work a strong sense of depth. The painting measures 39 cm in height and 28 cm in width, and is framed in a monumental, richly decorated gold-colored Baroque frame with total dimensions of 59 cm high, 49 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. On the reverse side, the canvas is stretched on an authentic wooden stretcher frame, bearing a historical handwritten inventory number "981" in blue crayon.
The entire piece is in authentic condition with an age-related patina that contributes to its historical character. The combination of the classical imagery and the imposing frame makes this a striking work of art.
