Ettore Pennisi, Acireale 1900-1970
Ettore Pennisi was a painter active in the first half of the 20th century, belonging to the noble Pennisi di Floristella family of Acireale. Unlike Francesco (the composer), Ettore devoted himself to more post-Impressionist painting.
Ettore Pennisi was known for landscapes and still lifes that play with the light of the Mediterranean. The use of vibrant blues and sunny yellows seen in your painting is his trademark.
In Acireale and Catania, his works are widely represented in the private collections of historic families. They represent a deep connection to the territory and to an aristocratic and cultured artistic tradition.
