Antique oak vaulted lid chest / blanket chest – 17th / early 18th century
Beautiful antique vaulted lid chest made of solid oak with original hand-forged iron fittings and a magnificent old patina.
The chest features a traditional domed lid and is fitted with fine wrought iron hinges, a lock plate, and decorative hardware. The warm, weathered appearance, the old oak wood, and the simple design give the piece of furniture a particularly authentic character.
The initials “C H I” are located on the front, presumably applied for the original owner or family, as was customary with this type of furniture.
The chest stands on original ball feet and has a beautiful architectural appearance that fits perfectly within both antique and modern interiors. A very decorative object with great atmosphere and historical appeal. Period
Probably late 17th / early 18th century
