We present this antique Italian nightstand dating back to the late 17th century. An extremely rare piece, a jewel of Italian Baroque cabinetmaking, this extraordinary nightstand combines harmonious proportions, formal rigor, and timeless charm. Crafted from fine solid walnut, it features simple yet distinctive lines, with sides and drawer fronts decorated with elegant relief panels and shaped mixtilinear corners, a typical feature of the Baroque era. At the bottom, it features bracket feet typical of the period. The deep brown hue of the walnut and the signs of age create a unique and authentic visual accent. Functionally, it features three convenient drawers. Note the fascinating detail on the front left corner of the top: the initials C A are burned into the wood. In the 17th century, these letters were often stamped as a seal of noble ownership, an inventory, or the seal of the workshop that created the piece. While perfect for a bedroom, this nightstand can also serve as a charming and functional small chest of drawers in any room of the house—in the living room, entryway, or bedroom—providing practical additional storage space. Wherever you choose to place it, it will become a focal point, admired and envied by all your guests. Its elegant simplicity makes it perfect for both classic furnishings and striking contrasts with modern spaces. The nightstand has undergone a conservative restoration that has not erased the charming signs of centuries gone by, but makes it ready to be placed in your home immediately. The top drawer had a lock which is now missing. Please note: The image of the item for sale in its furnishing context is purely illustrative.
