Antique ironstone tureen or vegetable dish from the Longchamp pottery, polychrome "Daisies" pattern, very rare, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, circa 1890-1910. Magnificent romantic, bucolic Art Nouveau decoration of daisies, foliage, grasses, and scrolls in dark pink transfer, delicately hand-embellished with shades of fuchsia pink, mauve, nuanced green, yellow, and brown. The rim is slightly scalloped. Attractive handles and knobs, four small feet, decorated exterior, undecorated interior. Can be used as a bowl or salad bowl without its lid. 30cm wide with handles, 21cm deep and wide without handles, 11cm high with feet and without lid, 21-22cm maximum height with lid. Very good overall condition for its age; there is a small chip on one rim and very discreet minor scuffs, some patina inside and out, and a few scratches on the interior. The lid does not fit the tureen perfectly and may slip slightly to one side or the other, while remaining held in place by the rim. This could be a manufacturing defect or the lid could be from a piece of the same model but with very slightly different dimensions. Approximately 1.5-2 kg.
