Description
Antique Indonesian birth table, traditionally used in rituals surrounding birth and family ceremonies. This type of table was often carved from a single solid piece of tree trunk and served as a low ceremonial table.
The object has a powerful, primitive form with integrated legs carved directly from the block of wood. The irregular edge, deep patina, and signs of use give the piece a strong sculptural character.
Such tables are widely collected today due to their wabi-sabi appearance and are often used as coffee tables or decorative objects in minimalist interiors.
