Product description
A beautiful antique Indian ritual table of the bajot type, crafted from shisham hardwood, with geometric decoration and hammered brass appliqués. This traditional piece of craftsmanship likely originates from Rajasthan or Gujarat and dates from the late 19th century. The tabletop features a simple yet elegant geometric composition with metal frames, a central lozenge, and decorative triangular motifs. The hand-cut and hammered brass plates add a striking visual presence. The construction is entirely handcrafted: • antique turned legs, • hand-assembled joints, • irregularly shaped forged nails, • unfinished underside with antique crossbars, • beautiful patina consistent with age. Present antique inscriptions on the underside. A very fine piece of ethnographic and decorative furniture, both understated and sculptural. Condition: Beautiful antique patina consistent with age and use. Oxidation and old marks consistent with age. Dimensions: Height: 18 cm Length: 62 cm Width: 62 cm Origin: India – Rajasthan or Gujarat Period: Late 19th century
