Product description
Beautiful antique English glazed earthenware hot water bottle, manufactured by Grimwades Ltd in England, circa 1910-1920. "The Mecca" model, bearing the green stamp "The Mecca – Grimwades Ltd England – Hot Water Bottle – Reg. No. 571373 – A" on the base. It has a lovely, clean, curved shape, entirely covered in a glossy cream-white glaze, with two integrated eyelets on the shoulders. It retains its large fluted screw-on stopper and gasket. An identical example, bearing the same registration number 57/373 A, is held in the collections of the London Museum and dated 1901-1920. 26 cm high, approximately 16 cm wide and 9 cm deep. In very good overall condition, with some minor patina marks and natural crazing of the glaze consistent with age. The ceramic threads of the stopper have an old chip on their underside, which does not affect its use. Approximately 1 kg. Decorative use recommended instead of the original use as a hot water bottle, an old item that may have been weakened by time, it no longer meets current safety standards.
