Original antique French oil painting on canvas, signed Aiveill lower left, depicting a traditional sailing fishing boat at sea.
The work features detailed rigging, figures aboard the vessel, several sailing boats on the horizon, and a very atmospheric treatment of the sea and sky.
The original stretcher bears a Lefranc stamp as well as the mark of Charles Dalles, Perpignan, an artist’s materials dealer. The reverse is also marked “4 M”, corresponding to a traditional French marine-format canvas.
