This elegant French guéridon dates from the late 19th century, crafted in the Louis XVI style. The oval top showcases a refined four-quarter sunburst marquetry in cherry wood with a contrasting light wood border fillet — a hallmark of the finest French cabinetmaking tradition.
Four slender tapered and fluted legs end in delicate square brass sabots. The piece is assembled using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, pegged — no screws, confirming authentic period construction.
Gently restored to preserve the original patina : light cleaning, linseed oil, and natural beeswax finish only. No stripping, no staining.
Original workshop inscriptions are still visible on the underside — including the piece number, cabinetmaker's notes, and original price in French francs. A rare and tangible proof of authenticity.
Sold with a certificate of authenticity from Atelier Freddy, Grenoble, France.
