Wonderful, collectible, antique, 2 gallon stoneware jug with handle, made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg" in Pennslyvania, from the 1880's. The jug carries its pottery stamp / maker's mark on the front, just under the neck, with the stamp that has "2" for 2 gallons, and "F.H. Cowden, Harrisburg", and features a beautiful, cobalt blue, stenciled snowflake design, in the form of a diamond pattern (see photos.) There is also the number "8", stamped under the
base, which has a small hole (see photo.)
Piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall body, as can be expected for a piece of this age. A few light marks / naturally occurring pits, that appear to have happened during the making of, and glazing / firing process. No cracks or chips (see photos.)
