An exceptionally fine, authentic Georgian chest of drawers from the late 18th century. This piece of furniture is crafted from rich, warm mahogany and features the highly sought-after, lower and wider proportions of a sideboard or traditional bachelor's chest.
Unique detail: Includes matching top cabinets; these currently stand separately on the top.
What makes this set truly rare and unique are the two separate, matching mahogany top cabinets. These miniature drawers (historically often used as pill boxes or jewelry boxes) rest perfectly on the top. They beautifully break up the sleek design and offer charming extra storage space.
The drawers are lined with oak on the inside and joined with iconic, delicate hand-sawn dovetail joints (needlepoint dovetails). This irrefutably demonstrates early, high-quality English furniture manufacturing. The drawer fronts are finished with a subtle, classic cockbeading.

-Locks: The original locks are present on 3 drawers, but no key is included.
-Condition: See photos for details. Solid and in very good antique condition. The woodwork has a beautiful weathered patina with light, superficial signs of use inherent to its age. The right side panel is slightly open due to the natural movement of the wood. Not a disturbing defect, but rather proof of a truly lived-in, characterful piece of furniture.
