Beautiful and highly decorative antique English armchair in the Carolean / Renaissance Revival style, dating from around 1900. A striking piece featuring elaborate hand-carved cherubs/putti, floral decoration and pierced carving. The chair has elegant curved arms and traditional woven cane panels to both the seat and backrest. The wood has developed a beautiful deep, warm patina that gives the chair plenty of character and presence. The cane work in the back shows some age-related damage and old repairs; please see the photographs. The carved wooden structure remains particularly attractive.
