A few centimeters to revisit an entire journey. This small decorative plaque takes us to Salzburg, in that Austria where baroque silhouettes emerge between the trees and hills. Bell towers and domes in verdigris tones here dominate a sloping garden, while in the foreground a few figures stroll peacefully along a railing. A woman sits on a bench. Further away, a mother walks with her child. Nothing spectacular: simply that gentleness of everyday scenes that was the charm of mid-20th century European illustration. The scene possesses a true graphic quality. The muted greens of the trees and rooftops, the touches of yellow and red in the vegetation, and the tiny silhouettes give the whole the appearance of an old illustration, almost out of a travel book. Made on a rigid support with black edges, it still has its small metal ring, allowing it to be hung on the wall. Its discreet format allows it to be easily integrated into a frame composition, a cabinet of curiosities, or among old travel souvenirs.
