Single-piece cast iron flat iron with a solid soleplate, heated on embers as used in 19th-century domestic settings. The forged iron handle, hinged and secured by two rivets, features the characteristic arched shape of French irons from this period. The top bears a molded relief marking: the letter "M" framed by stars and a size number, a common classification system used by foundries of the time to distinguish different sizes of the same model. The soleplate is smooth and the tip is tapered. The length is approximately 16 cm, the height approximately 13 cm. The patina is uniform, with rust and oxidation consistent with its age. No chips, no cracks. Placed on a fireplace mantel or a kitchen shelf, it recounts two centuries of domestic routines with a silent and massive presence.
