This finely crafted little box dates from around 1900 and is a striking example of British metalwork from the turn of the century. The body is precisely turned from solid brass and meticulously handcrafted.
Original British 1-penny coins from the Victorian era (1899 and 1901) are permanently embedded in the top and bottom. The iconic motifs of Queen Victoria and Britannia lend the object historical depth and a strong visual presence.
Pieces like these were not mass-produced but crafted in small workshops. Each one is therefore unique.
