Large brass planter, cache pot, or jardinière with repoussé relief decoration, depicting graceful acanthus vines and leaves with a central female figure, two handles in the shape of a lion's head, circa 1900, marked and numbered on the bottom.
Very large planter; the brass has acquired a very beautiful aged patina over the years. Repoussé is an ancient metalworking technique in which malleable metal (such as gold, silver, copper) is hammered from the back to create relief.
This object is in very good antique condition, with signs of age and use consistent with its age, such as small dents, discoloration, and oxidation. Check the photos for more details!
