Art Deco Style / Mid-Century Modern Side Table. Although the table's design has features of the Art Deco style, the construction technique using exposed, layered plywood is also very characteristic of furniture designs from the Mid-Century Modern period, including the 1960s. The table could therefore be a vintage piece from the 1960s inspired by the classic Art Deco guéridon planchette, but with a modern construction technique and choice of materials typical of that time. Although plywood was invented and used much earlier, the association of exposed plywood in furniture design is mainly with the Mid-Century Modern style, which was popular from the 1940s to the 1970s. Based on this information, it is plausible that the table was made in the 1960s or later and was inspired by the Art Deco style, but with a construction typical of the Mid-Century Modern period.
