A beautiful, authentic antique snuff box from the 19th century (Victorian period).
This unique collector's item is crafted from pressed papier-mâché and finished with a classic glossy, deep black lacquer coating (Japanese finish).
The lid is very finely decorated with subtle geometric lines along the edges and features a central floral or shield-shaped inlay of tin/metal foil.
Historically, this type of box was used for carrying snuff tobacco and is today an extremely elegant decorative object for the interior, on a desk, or as an addition to an antique collection.
