A very beautiful antique Art Nouveau majolica pendant light, late 19th/early 20th century, circa 1890-1930. Reminiscent of pieces from the Onnaing and Nimy factories. The maker's mark is unknown, but it is hand-numbered 63 inside. The pendant light has a bowl-like shape with a relief decoration of foliage, peacock feathers, and stylized flowers in shades of beige, green, brown, and pink. It features a lovely flared shape, complemented by a small decorative ball at the bottom. The antique metal chain is covered with paint or a light brown patinated finish.
The pendant light measures 28cm in diameter and 12.5-13cm in height; the total height with the 40cm chain is therefore 52-53cm. In good overall condition, with two very minor chips and a tiny hairline crack on the inner rim, both very discreet, as well as some small signs of wear consistent with age on the chain. The metal is visible in places, particularly around the hook where it is slightly thinner. The piece remains sturdy, but it could be replaced. There are also some minor scuff marks and slight wear to the enamel on the base ball. This piece can be used either as a hanging planter or as a light fixture that can be electrified, depending on the desired use. Approximately 1.5 kg.
