Product description
Beautiful authentic 18th-century French table candlestick, crafted by the renowned master pewterer Jean Galy of Bordeaux. This candlestick (height: 19 cm) is constructed from three separately cast parts with the characteristic longitudinal casting seam on the shaft. The underside features a very distinct master's stamp: the crowned initials 'JG' above the three distinctive towers of the Bordeaux coat of arms, flanked by the separate fleur-de-lis quality stamp (étain fin). In excellent antique condition with a beautiful, weathered original patina. A rare and documented masterpiece for the collector of fine guild pewter work.
