Anonima Castelli Plia folding chair by Giancarlo Piretti (large quantities available! 30+)
These folding chairs were designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli Italy, the Plia model.
The design dates back to 1967 and was first introduced at the Fiera del Mobile in Milan. A unique feature of the folding chair is the three-disc hinge, which was very innovative at the time. The seat and backrest are made of transparent plexiglass.
Giancarlo Piretti was chief designer and head of the development department at Anonima Castelli. Piretti designed the successful Plia folding chair in 1969.
This folding chair is also on display in the design department of the MOMA in New York.
The Plia folding chair design won, among other awards, the German Gute Form Prize in 1973.
