Every morning, in rural France from the 1940s to the 1960s, people would take their milk can and go to the farm. This simple, daily ritual nourished entire families. This can made that journey hundreds of times. Its scratched and patinated aluminum carries the memory of those mornings. The can is made of pressed aluminum, with a cylindrical body and collar, and a slightly flared base. Capacity 3 liters. The lid is articulated by a brass hinge and held by a metal chain that prevented it from being lost along the way. The pivoting brass latch with a wooden knob ensures a tight seal. The aluminum wire handle is fitted with a turned wooden grip, soft in hand, warm to the touch. Height approximately 20 cm. Today, this can finds a new life in a country kitchen, placed on a stone countertop or a raw wood shelf. It holds utensils, dried flowers, aromatic herbs. Or it simply stands there, a silent witness to a time when objects were made to last. Authentic used patina, functional and intact hinge, latch, and chain.
