Rare Bariomat motorized bar sideboard with original radio, designed by Alfons Doerr in Germany during the 1960s. This sleek space age sideboard comes with a secret James Bond would be jealous of: An illuminated cocktail bar reveals itself with just a flip of the switch. The central compartment rises electronically from the cabinet, revealing storage for bottles, glasses and bar accessories. When closed, the bar disappears into the clean architectural form of the sideboard. Our little secret… This particular version is especially rare, as it comes with the original built in radio and speakers! Listen to your favourite music while enjoying a drink from the rising bar. This feature was a special add on which was custom made back in the 60s. The combination of warm wood with beautiful veining, precise proportions and an unexpected mechanical element, which was very advanced for its time, reflects the experimental character of German Space Age design from Alfons Doerr. Its generous surface and concealed storage allows the piece to function as both an elegant sideboard and a complete home bar, with radio. The Bariomat was only produced in small numbers, making it a true collectors piece and rarely found, this special piece with original radio makes it even more collectable.
