A beautiful original Albert Kiessling studio vase, showcasing the ceramicist’s iconic “Schlangenhaut” (snakeskin) shrink-glaze — one of the most recognisable surfaces in East German studio pottery.
Albert Kiessling, trained as a master ceramist and active from the 1950s onward, became known for his experimental glazing techniques, especially the shrink-glaze that forms a tactile, cracked pattern across the surface. Each piece develops its texture individually in the kiln, making no two vases identical.
