This is a dark brown version of the large 50cm variant of the pendant lamp that Arne Jacobsen designed in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
This is a design classic that is still produced for the brand Louis Poulsen (but now only in white or black -- see the brand's website).
Photos 1 through 4 give a general impression of this lamp, which has 4 E27 sockets (1 in the center and 3 around the perimeter between the two shade sections).
The lamp is in good condition, with a few extremely minor damages. To show the minuscule damage, in photos 5 through 9, the two shell parts were placed separately on a cloth and photographed from close up (without moving anything), as follows:
- photo 5: overview of the two shell parts
- photo 6: close-up of 4 mini-scratches spaced 3 cm apart (vertically in the center of the photo). These scratches are not visible as a color difference. They are only visible in the reflection under specific lighting conditions (exactly as in the photo)
- photo 7: close-up of 1 thin scratch of 1 cm (vertically in the center of the photo). This scratch is also not visible as a color difference. It is only visible in the reflection under specific lighting conditions (exactly as in the photo)
- photo 8: in the center of the photo, several very small damages are visible close together over a distance of 3 mm, which are visible as a color difference between lacquer and unlacquered (each damage individually is only a fraction of a millimeter)
- photo 9: on the top of the lamp (in the center of the photo), there are a few white dots, each only a fraction of a millimeter in size.
To show that there is no damage to the white interior of the lamp, the scale parts have also been placed upside down on the cloth (see photo 10 for an overview, and photos 11 and 12 for the two scale parts separately).
