Jardin d'Ulysse emerged in the early 1990s, soon ushering in a new way of decorating interiors. Light wood, aged patinas, country homes, and objects inspired by a familiar past then returned to prominence. The decor aimed to be warm and romantic, a departure from the overly strict interiors of previous decades. This frame is fully representative of that period. Crafted from wood and covered with a light patina accented with golden hues, it is designed around a large heart rimmed with small carved beads. The finishing process reveals the wood grain beneath the patina, lending it the intentionally aged appearance that characterized the brand's early collections. The heart is intended for a photograph. A portrait, a family photo, or a cherished memory finds an almost intimate place here, much like the images once kept on a dresser or nightstand rather than stored in a phone's memory. The back retains its original Jardin d'Ulysse label and easel stand. The frame can also be hung using its integrated hook. A truly charming decorative piece, representative of the chic country aesthetic that defined the late 20th century and enjoyed immense success in the early 2000s. Dimensions approximately 18 x 19 cm, thickness approximately 2.5 cm. Lovely patina with some signs of age visible in the photographs, late 1990s.
