A beautifully painted work by one of the few followers of Jean-Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962) in Paris.
This Belle Époque Parisiene is painted in pastel shades of blue and likely dates from the 1950s. The canvas measures 50 x 70 cm and exhibits slight crazing. There is some paint loss at the bottom of the dress. The painter was probably rather frugal in this area.
I haven't yet been able to identify the signature. I'll add it as soon as I have more information.
My husband adjusted the frame to fit, and square nails emerged, indicating it's pre-war.
