Two authentic pieces of African tribal art: a traditional Maasai/Samburu shield and a Pende ritual figure representing a Minganji dancer with a Gitenga mask (Kenya/Tanzania – Democratic Republic of Congo, c. 1960–1980)

1. Traditional Maasai/Samburu shield from East Africa – painted leather, wood, and animal hair
Condition: One of the original leather straps of the grip system is missing from the back. This does not affect the shield's stability for display or collection. Additionally, the lower end of the central strip has an old longitudinal crack, which has been repaired over time. (See photographs)

2. Pende ritual figure representing a Minganji dancer with a Gitenga mask – Democratic Republic of Congo – Raffia, wood, and natural feathers.
The body replicates the ceremonial costume made from a fine two-tone braid of raffia fibers in natural and dark brown tones, embellished with skirts of plant fibers at the waist and ankles, a necklace of natural down, and a headdress.
The figure stands on a circular base that facilitates its display.
Condition: The woven structure, the original polychromy of the mask, the feather headdress, and the wooden base are intact, showing only slight wear and minor losses typical of natural materials and consistent with its age, without affecting its magnificent display presence.
